Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, the largest civil airport that is put into operation in the opening year for the "14th Five-Year Plan", is positioned as the main hub of Chengdu's international aviation hubs. In phase I, it has three runways (two lengthways routes and one horizontal route) as well as terminals that cover 710,000 m2, with supporting facilities, and it can address an annual passenger throughput of 60 million and cargo throughput of 1.3 million tons. For the long term, the Airport plans to build six runways (four lengthways routes and two horizontal routes) and a terminal building of 1.4 million m2, which can address an annual passenger throughput of 120 million and cargo throughput of 2.8 million tons.
